There are people out there that like to say this site is run by conspiracy theorists, I can’t say I blame them. (Show me a theory) They also like to say that this site is run by bitter songwriters that didn’t win the songwriting contest, (Nope…not bitter at all, more like amazed) Once again I don’t blame them.

Well everyone is entitled to their opinion, but there is a problem with that. There is a huge difference between a theory and a fact. I said it on more than one occasion, if there is ANY infomation on this blog that is incorrect email and tell me what it is and it will be removed. You know what the funny thing is? Only two songwriters have sent an email and/or comment. Two!

To all of the songwriters mentioned in this blog.
If you feel you have been singled out unfairly or that what is written on this page is incorrect, email me and tell me what it is that is wrong, all I ask is that you have something…anything to back up what you say and I will be more that happy to remove it.
Any takers?

Let’s look back at some of the theories….Shall we?

1. American Idol claimed on their website in the voter tips section (You know…where  you went to vote for last years winning
song) that ALL of the songwriters were amateurs. That is a fact, and I have the screenshot to prove it.

2. American Idol claimed in 2007 that more than 500.000 votes were cast for all top 20 songs, then in 2008 the number of
votes for the 2007 contest were according to Idol more than two million for the winning song alone. (This Is My Now)

3. On June 14, 2007 an email was sent by me, in that email I wrote that I felt that a certain person was involved with this contest,
then amazingly this same person ends up a 2008 top 20 finalist.

4. There has never been (as far as I know) any proof whatsoever that any of the songs were even listened to. If you have any proof let me know.

5. American Idol has never given a exact number for the amount of entries for either contest. (But they do love using the words “More Than”)…as in more than 25.000 entries.

6. American Idol has never given any names of anyone that judged either contest. (They do it for the singers, why not list the name of the people that judged these contests?)

7. On April 11, 2007 in the news section on the Idol website they said they were looking for amateur songwriters.

8. American Idol never even mentioned last years winners name on the show. But they did give Renaldo Lapuz three minutes of air time with the U.S.C. marching band.

9. American Idol has never been forthcoming with any real information about either contest, in fact as of today May 18, 2009 this is what they have posted in the F.A.Q section under forum’s.

Q) Will the Songwriting Competition return for Season 8?
A) At the moment we have no information about this. We will provide an update when it becomes available.

It became available when Kara told MSNBC April 6, 2009 that she was writing the Finale song.

10. And last but not least, I do understand that people in the music biz are going to know each other. But here is the problem…..this was a nationwide contest, thousands and thousands of people entered, and out of 40 songs in the past two contest we have this many connections…and we are not talking 6 degrees here either.

Am I Bitter? No, not at all.
But there is only one thing I have been wanting from day one.

Accountability!

  1. Idol is not a contest, it gets by those rules by the “reality TV show” label.

Truth in advertising might be more appropiate.

    the show is a scam.
